Supplier Caps

Cap supplier lead volume and dollar spend per day, week, month, or total in Lead Distro AI. Ping caps, price-range clamps, and runaway-supplier protection.

What Are Supplier Caps?

Caps on suppliers limit how much volume or spend a supplier can generate before being automatically paused. They protect against runaway traffic (a misconfigured supplier sending 10× expected volume) and enforce supplier-side budget discipline.

Cap Types

Cap typeCountsUse case
Lead capsLead count per windowCap volume — pace daily ingestion
Dollar budget capsCumulative cost per windowCap spend — protect against runaway Meta spend
Ping caps (V2 ping-post only)Pings sent per windowCap pre-validation volume separately from posts
Price-range clampsMin/max bid the supplier can receiveReject pings outside the supplier's acceptable price range

Cap Windows

Lead caps and dollar caps both support daily, weekly, monthly, and total windows. Whichever cap fires first pauses the supplier for that window. Daily caps reset at midnight in your account timezone; weekly resets Monday 00:00; monthly resets 1st of month; total never auto-resets.

Setting Caps

  • Open the supplier's detail page.
  • Find the Caps section.
  • Enter values for each window you want active — leave blank to skip that window.
  • Save. Caps take effect immediately and apply to leads from the next ingest forward.

Price-Range Clamps (Ping-Post)

Set Min Sell Price and Max Sell Price on a supplier in V2 ping-post campaigns. When the winning buyer's bid is outside this range, Lead Distro AI rejects the ping instead of quoting the supplier — protecting the supplier from selling below their cost floor or above their tolerance ceiling.

Min Sell Price replaces the legacy Bid Threshold setting (retired May 2026). Same logic — cleaner UI, sits next to Max Sell Price as a single Sell Price Range field.

Runaway Supplier Protection

Caps are your circuit breaker for misconfigured suppliers. A supplier suddenly sending 100× expected volume hits its daily cap within minutes and pauses automatically — instead of running up your Meta budget or buyer caps until you notice. Combine with Notifications tab alerts on cap-hit events to know immediately when the breaker tripped.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I cap a supplier's spend separately from its lead count?
Yes. Lead caps count leads received; dollar budget caps count cost (in your account currency). They run on the same time windows but independently. A supplier with a daily lead cap of 500 AND a daily dollar cap of $1,000 hits whichever cap fires first — useful for variable-cost suppliers (Meta Ads sync) where lead count and cost don't move in lockstep.
What are ping caps and how are they different from lead caps?
Ping caps limit how many pings a supplier can send in a window, counted at the ping step before any lead is posted. Useful in V2 ping-post when a noisy supplier sends 10,000 pings/day but only 100 convert to posts — ping caps prevent them from exhausting your buyer's ping-response infrastructure on pings that never become leads. Lead caps still apply on the post step.
What's the Sell Price Range on a supplier?
Min and Max sell price clamps on V2 ping-post pings. If the winning buyer's bid falls outside [Min, Max], Lead Distro AI rejects the ping instead of quoting the supplier the bid. Use Min to enforce a price floor; use Max to prevent runaway bids from a single high-bidder. Replaced the legacy Bid Threshold setting in May 2026.
When a supplier hits a cap, does Lead Distro AI notify me?
Only if you configure it. Go to Settings → Notifications and enable cap-hit alerts per supplier or globally. Alerts can go to Slack, email, or SMS. Without alerts, the supplier pauses silently — you'll see it in the dashboard but won't get a push notification.
Can I temporarily lift a supplier cap?
Yes — edit the cap to a higher value (or 0 to disable). Change takes effect immediately. Don't forget to put it back. For one-day lifts, set a calendar reminder; for permanent changes, update your team's runbook.
Do caps apply per-campaign or across all campaigns the supplier is attached to?
Caps are per-supplier, summing across all campaigns the supplier is attached to. A supplier with a 500/day lead cap attached to 3 campaigns sees its cap hit at lead #500 cumulatively across all 3 — not 500 per campaign. For per-campaign caps, use campaign-level inbound filters or create separate suppliers per campaign.
